Port Station One

In 2009, the Port acquired the City of Toledo's former Public Safety Building, which housed the Toledo Fire and Police Departments and the dispatch center, with the understanding that the Port would rehabilitate the building and grounds into viable and usable property. Work is now complete on the building rehab, and it has been leased by local entreprenuer Dave Silwones for a glass arts demonstration and gallery space. He will use much of the building; the remainder will become new offices for the Port. Move-in will occur around April 1.

The open space formerly occupied by the administrative wing of the building has become a beautiful 'pocket park' with work by local artists on display.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held May 21st, 2010 for the new Art Park in conjuction with the Port's Centennial Party. The new name "Port Station One" was also chosen from suggestions gathered at the party.

The interior has been refinished largely in part to the Community Services Consortium (CSC) Youth Construction Crew which is funded through a collaborative of grants and formula funds.  The CSC construction crew students get hands-on experience in the building trades.
