Build Your Own Paddle Board!

Build Your Own Paddle Board!

There are still openings to build your own stand up paddleboard in the Family Boat Building event at the Port of Toledo’s 14th Annual Wooden Boat Show. Stand up Paddleboards have become increasingly popular, and are a fun way to play on the water. The 12 foot Stand-Up Paddleboard is stable and good to use in smooth waters. Complete this project with your kids, parents, grandkids or friends and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Registration cost is $500 and scholarships may be available from the Port. This is a four day project, and includes all materials and instruction to build the paddleboard and a paddle. The project is completed under guidance by local shipwright Rick Johnson and volunteers. The recommended family (group) size is 2-5 people per boat, with at least one adult. All ages, beginning at 8 years old, can work together on this project. The building begins on Thursday, August 16th at 9:00 am. Three full days and one half day on Sunday will culminate in an afternoon launch ceremony before you take your Stand-Up Paddleboard home

Registration forms are available online at www.portoftoledo.org or call the Port Office at 541-336-5207 for more information.
